Andrea is a garden designer and planting planner with many years of gardening experience behind her.

Before setting up Polly’s Perennials Andrea worked as a journalist for 20 years, latterly as Crime Editor on the Sunday Express, before leaving the world of journalism to begin a new career in gardening.

She is now intending to combine the two worlds with a regular blog touching on her green fingered experiences.

While taking her first tentative step on the ladder to a new career in gardening Andrea helped out in her local park. Andrea was elected to the Friends of Norwood Park where she set up a Home Growing project to help local people without access to land to be able to grow their own vegetables.

She is now the Chairman of The Friends of Norwood Park and  another Friends group in neighbouring Croydon looking after Grangewood Park, in Thornton Heath. Both parks were originally part of The Great North Wood.

Andrea has also volunteered as a Master Gardener and this experience has helped her to support various food growing schemes and this has led to her developing the concept of The Gift of the Good Life.

Andrea has a Higher National Diploma in horticulture gaining a Distinction and has Level 3 Certificate in Garden & Planting Design from Capel Manor College in Regents Park.

She has built up a network of contacts that she can call upon to assist her with her gardening projects.
